Peanut butter & caramel mousse

I love mousse and I love it more when I don’t have to use half an egg in it! (yes, some recipes use just the yolk. Crazy, I know!)

Recently, I got my hands on some unflavoured powdered gelatin and what better way to use it than to make some mousse (without having to use half an egg :p)

The recipe is pretty simple and takes a couple of minutes to prepare, it yields around 4-5 servings. To make the mousse, you’ll whip up the cream with sugar and then add flavour of choice (peanut butter & caramel here). Mix that with a gelatin/water mixture, refrigerate and you have mousse. It’s that simple. So without further ado, let’s move on to the recipe 😀

  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 1 ½ tsp unflavoured powdered gelatin
  • 1 ½ tablespoon boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup confectioners sugar
  • ¼ cup caramel sauce (room temp.)
  • 1 tsp peanut butter
  • chocolate shaving (optional)

  1. Put cold water in a small bowl and sprinkle the gelatin on it
  2. Then add 2 tablespoons of boiling water in the same bowl and mix until the gelatin has dissolved completely
  3. In another bowl, whip the cream and sugar together (until you have stiff peaks)
  4. Next, fold in the caramel sauce and peanut butter until completely combined
  5. Add the gelatin mixture and mix until well combined
  6. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours. Serve with chocolate shaving
